Student Lab Assistant Bloom is very loyal to, and generally obsessed with, her teacher Professor Sunset Shimmer (her big sister's gonna love that). Revisited this seeing as AB and Sunset have finally met, because it's made my very curious about the bond that will develop between the two.
For one, Bloom said Sunset was the "Bravest" pony she's ever met. This makes me think that at some point, Sunset does something very important that makes Bloom greatly differ from her sister's assessment of Sunset's character, believing her to be a very good person who isn't afraid to risk her life for those she cares for.
I'm also interested in the parallels between Bloom's training under Sunset, and Sunset's own training under Celestia. One of the biggest problems in that relationship was Sunset was too blinded by fear of losing Celestia's respect, that she became hostile to any who became competition. Bloom is exhibiting this same behaviour towards Dagi. Likewise, Celestia loved Sunset too much to see what she was becoming, much like how Sunset seems oblivious towards Bloom's crush and her antagonism towards Dagi. Of course, given certain future pics Froggy's made, it doesn't end as badly as the former bond.
Additionally, the fact that Sunset has already met and bonded well with another Bloom in the human world, makes it very believable that Sunset would become a very influential mentor to the young Apple.
Finally, given how Bloom calls Dagi a "bloodthirsty, offal-eatin' fish-demon", makes me wonder how she eventually does a 180 on this stance when she adopts Apreggio, given the Apples characteristically place great importance on family.
